For Elementary and Middle School string students
Amadeus Strings serves area elementary/middle school string students who take private lessons, and wish to perform in a group setting. It meets on Monday evenings, 6:00-7:00 pm from June 9 - July 28 with Ramona Coppage.
For High School students, College students and AdultsSummer String Workshop meets August 11-15 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Seton Hill University. Sessions include string orchestra rehearsals and sectionals, leading to a public performance at week’s end. All participants will also be placed in a chamber music ensemble.
Community String Orchestra meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Academy of Music from June 17 - July 22. There is no audition for this group of mostly adult string players.
Flute Choir, for avid high school, college and adult flutists who enjoy making music with other flute lovers, meets on Wednesday evenings, beginning June 11 - August 20, from 7:00 – 8:15 at the Academy of Music.
Classical Encounters: Music of the Baroque and early Classical Period Part I of this 4-part mini-music appreciation course is offered this summer. Emphasis is placed on recognizing various styles and learning terminology that improves one’s knowledge of and appreciation for what is happening in the music. Two different sections are offered on Thursday afternoon from 1:30 -2:45 on June 26 and July 17. Other style periods include Classical (II), Romantic (III) and 20th Century (IV), which are offered throughout the year.
Private Lessons for All Ages The Academy of Music offers 30, 45 and 60 minute private lessons for strings and flute.
